Laser Facial Rejuvenation
Even the most meticulous skincare regimen can't prevent time from leaving its mark. Fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, scars, and other flaws can leave skin looking worn or tired, no matter how young we might feel inside. At Romanelli Cosmetic Surgery, we offer a full line of medical spa services to Long Island patients, including skin rejuvenation using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), laser scar reduction, laser hair removal, and, for the most aggressive correction of facial imperfections, our fractionated CO2 lasers. Their powerful technology puts a smooth, clear complexion within your reach.

Intense Pulsed Light
Using IPL you can reduce red and brown spots on the face, chest or hands. These office based treatments don't require anesthesia, have no real downtime, and produce results you can see.
Our plastic surgeons, Dr. Romanelli, Dr. Pincus, and Dr. Layliev, use their experience and aesthetic sense while applying these non‐ablative light‐based techniques to sun spots, age spots and red spots. At your consultation, your surgeon can recommend the number of treatments needed and discuss the type of results you can expect.
Laser Scar Reduction
Whether from an accident, or from surgery, some individuals produce scars that are thicker or redder than ideal. Our plastic surgeons personally perform laser scar reduction procedures, which typically involve multiple treatments that are well tolerated by most patients. But the discomfort is managed by local application of ice packs, and well worth the reduction in the appearance of scars.
Laser Hair Reduction
While it seems that you can have laser hair removal done almost everywhere, it is important to choose a venue that offers you great technology and experienced hands.
This innovative, versatile device targets aging skin (wrinkles and brown spots), red patches (veins and rosacea) as well as active acne. It pairs Intense Pulse Light (IPL) with Optimal Pulses Technology (OPT™), a combination that earned M22 its FDA clearance to treat 20 different skin conditions. We've seen great results with M22 for aging, sun damage, visible veins, and sun spots.
Fractionated CO2 Lasers
For deeper facial lines, fractionated carbon dioxide lasers offer an effective, non-surgical method to quickly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and to even out skin tone. These safe, time-tested lasers are used by our plastic surgeons to deliver strong pulses of light to targeted areas, removing damaged skin and stimulating new collagen growth. The precise nature of these treatments allows for great control and targeting without harming the surrounding skin.
At Romanelli Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Romanelli, Dr. Pincus, and Dr. Layliev use 4 different types of CO2 laser treatments to provide patients with customized results.
Best for the superficial treatment of large areas, the ActiveFX laser treats scars and diminishes lines and wrinkles by stimulating the growth of new collagen. With the ActiveFX, results are usually visible after just 1 treatment, and downtime is minimal.
As the name implies, DeepFX penetrates deeper than other laser treatments, which facilitates greater collagen rebuilding. DeepFX is a favorite for scarred or sun-damaged skin and has a relatively short recovery time. Results are visible after 1 treatment.
Best for severe environmental damage, MaxFX treats fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation irregularities while it stimulates new collagen growth. Unlike the other laser treatments, results from the MaxFX are usually seen within 4 to 7 days, with the most noticeable results emerging at 2 to 3 weeks post-procedure.
A combination of ActiveFX and DeepFX, TotalFX treats a combination of issues and provides more maximized results than either of the treatments on their own. Downtime is between 4 to 6 days. This treatment takes less than an hour, and results are visible immediately.
Does CO2 laser facial rejuvenation hurt?
The process of fractionated laser facial rejuvenation can be painful. Depending on the extent of the procedure, local anesthetic or a light anesthetic may be administered. A prescription for pain medication may also be written after your procedure to keep you comfortable at home. Many patients report a feeling comparable to a mild sunburn for a few days after the procedure. Laser facial rejuvenation is an outpatient procedure.
How long will my results last?
In many cases, the appearance of skin that has undergone laser rejuvenation will continue to improve for up to 1 year, and the final results of your laser facial rejuvenation procedure can last for many years. However, the procedure does not halt the aging process. It's important to follow your post-procedure instructions in order to maximize your results. You may repeat laser rejuvenation procedures as needed.
Will people be able to tell that I've had laser facial rejuvenation?
The results of laser facial rejuvenation provide an improved, refined appearance, but they are not drastic. You may choose to take several days off of work in order to facilitate healing. During this time, your skin may be swollen and red. Once your skin has healed, you'll likely look like a younger version of yourself, but you won't look overdone.
