Have you considered having a rhinoplasty procedure? Before seeking treatment, it’s important to understand the procedure and process involved. Here, we’re sharing the main phases of this popular plastic surgery procedure at our Long Island plastic surgery practice.
During your consultation, we’ll discuss your decision to receive rhinoplasty and determine if you are a candidate. Many of our patients find that rhinoplasty can help with common nose disorders, like breathing or a deviated septum. We’ll then use mirror imaging to give you a visual before-and-after comparison of your customized procedure.
The majority of rhinoplasty procedures prevent scarring on the face through a “closed” technique, where incisions are made inside the nostrils. A few procedures are conducted through the “open” technique, where a small incision is made at the top of the nose. During the procedure, you’ll receive anesthesia but will be able to return home the same day.
Rhinoplasty typically results in a minimal amount of pain. Minor bleeding may occur for a few days after and you’ll notice some bruising which will subside within 2 weeks. We recommend normal post-operative care, including cold compresses and oral pain medication. Although minor swelling will last a few months, you’ll be able to see the results of your procedure after a week. This is a joyful, exciting moment for many patients, and we love being a part of it!
