Our Long Island breast reduction patients are some of our happiest patients because of the significant difference we make in their lives. Not only do they feel more confident after receiving the procedure, but the alleviated pain offers significant improvements as well.
Once you’ve made the decision to look into breast reduction, your first step is to schedule a consultation. During this appointment either Dr. Romanelli or Dr. Pincus will take the time to discuss your goals and expectations. Both doctors encourage lots of questions. They will also use the VECTRA® 3D imaging system to show you the results you can expect before the procedure has even taken place. This will be the time to discuss payment options as well. Because large breasts can cause medical problems, the procedure is often covered, at least in part, by insurance.
The surgical process may vary depending on your specific needs, however, you can expect the procedure to take no more than 4 hours. You will be sent home with bandaged breasts and a special support bra the very same day. Bruising, swelling, and some discomfort is normal and can be easily managed with prescribed pain medication. Overall, the recovery is very similar to that of a breast augmentation patient.
