3 Steps to Hair Restoration Using NeoGraft®

Learn more about hair restoration at our Long Island practice

As we all know, thinning hair is natural and common in many men and women. Luckily, there are a number of hair restoration options to consider. NeoGraft® is by and far the most effective response to hair loss that we offer at our plastic surgery practice here on Long Island. This minimally invasive process provides patients with natural looking results that last.

Here are 3 steps to the NeoGraft process, from what you can expect during your consultation to the final results.

  1. Consultation: You will begin with a free, in-person consultation with Dr. Pincus or Dr. Romanelli, who both specialize in the NeoGraft system. Together you will discuss your concerns about hair loss and whether you are a candidate for the procedure. Throughout the consultation you will receive a clear idea of what to expect and how the treatment works. Both physicians are passionate about patients being confident in their decision and comfortable with the process from start to finish.
  2. Treatment: The hair restoration treatment is a minimally invasive procedure. The doctors will use the NeoGraft system to extract healthy, growing hair follicles from the back of your head and transplant them to the area affected by hair loss. There are no incisions required, though your scalp will be numbed using local anesthetic to minimize discomfort and you may receive an oral sedative to help you relax. The process can take a few hours to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area. You will be awake throughout the procedure, and able to eat and use the restroom. Other forms of hair transplant methods often require greater downtime, some scarring, and may not be as effective.
  3. Recovery: Immediately following your procedure, you will want to refrain from showering or washing your hair for a few days, though Dr. Pincus or Dr. Romanelli will give you specific directions depending on your treatment. You may feel some minor soreness and discomfort at the transplantation site, as well as minimal scabbing. Scabbing is natural and means that the hair follicles are establishing themselves. Because hair grows in different stages, it can take up to 3 months before you begin to see noticeable signs of growth. Significant results will appear between 6 months to 1 year following the procedure.

The NeoGraft treatment has been an effective solution for many of our patients. If you are interested in learning more about the NeoGraft procedure and finding out if you are a candidate, contact our office online or by phone at (631) 424-3600 to schedule a free consultation.
