Mommy Makeover #2 Breast Enhancement

A mother of two said to me recently “I am glad to be getting rid of my smoke and mirrors bra.”  Breast augmentation, especially for the many moms we see at Romanelli Cosmetic Surgery, is about filling out breasts that are deflated after pregnancy and breast feeding.

Some women say “I want the breast size I had when breast feeding,”  or when pregnant.  Some say “Give me the breasts I had before children,” and some say  “Give me the breasts I never had!”

But what they almost all say is “I don’t want to be a spectacle.”  And indeed, my goal is to bring balance and proportion to all of my patients, whether it’s in regards to liposuction, rhinoplasty or breast implants at my Long Island practice.

Breast augmentation sometimes includes a breast lift.  Here is one example of a lift done for a 41 year old mother of one child who complained of sagging breasts and lack of fullness.

Her surgery included the use of silicone gel implants, 250 ccs on the left, 275 ccs on the right.  Different implants were used to treat a mild asymmetry.

With the great excess of skin that she had, she underwent a full breast lift, with incisions around the areola, down to and across the fold beneath the breasts.  She is delighted with her results, and has gone from a “less than B” cup, to small D cup bra.

You can see how well hidden the incisions are:  by the color change from the areola to the surrounding skin, and by the fold beneath the breasts.

Each patient understands that every surgery involves trade-offs.  Fortunately, scars typically fade dramatically over time.  This patient’s post-op photos are taken just 2 months after her surgery, and the scars are already great.

I will post updated photos in 6 months, when they undoubtedly will be even less obvious.

Here are 2 more photos to give you a better idea of her results from another view.

Note on the side view the way the top half of the breast doesn’t show any breast tissue.

This is very common after children, with or without breast-feeding.

This show a side view result, after surgery.

Recovery generally takes a week away from work and exercise.  Light exercise begins at 1 week, but no chest exercises at first!
