As a breast reconstruction plastic surgeon on Long Island , I recognize just how devastating breast cancer can be – not just for the patient but for family members and loved ones. As a result, I seek ways, both personally and professionally, to help.
This is why to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month for October, my practice has volunteered to serve as the first Long Island drop-off site for Breast Oasis. My staff and I are very excited to be an affiliate of this non-profit charitable organization that provides women who cannot afford them with new or gently used, clean bras. We’ve learned from experience with our patients that many women either have unworn new bras or no use for ill-fitting bras after breast procedures, but do not know what to do with them. Starting next month we’ll be collecting bras for women in need and will continue to serve as a local drop off site for Breast Oasis.
In addition, my staff and I would like to extend an invitation for you to join us at our Breast Cancer Awareness Month event on Monday, October 10, from 1 to 7 pm. We hope you’ll show your support by donating a new bra to Breast Oasis at the event. Each person who donates a new bra will receive a complimentary select skin care treatment from a guest esthetician! Free refreshments will also be provided, and no RSVP is required. I plan to match donations of new bras received at the event as well up to 200.
