Long Island Liposuction Recovery & Results
The length of your recovery following your Long Island liposuction procedure will be determined by the amount of fat removed and the number of areas treated. For many patients healing time from lipo surgery is relatively quick.
Initially, you may feel like you've been through a vigorous workout. Over the first 24 hours you will have some "leaking" of the remaining tumescent fluid from the small incisions used for your liposuction. You may shower the day after surgery. Any bruising will diminish within 2 weeks of your surgery.

You may need to wear a compression garment for a few weeks especially if you have surgery on your thighs, abdomen or buttocks. Swelling lasts for a number of weeks, but by 1 month you will see a real difference, and by 6 months you should have your final result. Dr. Romanelli will provide a comprehensive recovery guide to help you return to your normal, social activities and to resume any exercise routines without damaging your results.
Since Dr. Romanelli takes special care to place his incisions in the natural creases of your skin, most scars will be hidden. Your scars will be pink at first, and will generally mature into less visible white scars after a few months.
Fat cells are unique since, in adults, they do not reproduce. So if we gain or lose weight, each fat cell gets a little bit bigger or smaller. The good news is that once a fat cell is removed, it will never come back. That does not mean, however, that you can let yourself go after liposuction. The fat cells that remain in your body can expand if you eat more calories than you burn through exercise.
While you should not expect your weight to change significantly following liposuction in Suffolk County, you can expect to notice real differences in your contours and proportions.
You owe it to yourself to find out about your liposuction options and to share your goals with Dr. Romanelli of Romanelli Cosmetic Surgery, located in Huntington, New York. Call (631) 424-3600 today or click here to request your free surgical consultation.
