Brow Lift - Recovery & Results
Recovery from a forehead lift at our Long Island plastic surgery center greatly depends on the technique used. For all procedures, you will need to keep your head elevated for 2 to 3 days. Most of our patients are able to return to light normal activities within 7 to 10 days.
A conventional lift has a bit longer recovery period, but the results are more substantial and generally last longer than an endoscopic lift. For all lifts, swelling and bruising will subside in 10 to 14 days. Your sutures, and any skin clips, will be removed in 7 to 10 days. (Skin clips, also called skin staples, have a lower risk of infection in the hair-bearing scalp.) There is some numbness around the incision site. As the nerves around the incisions begin to heal, you may experience an itching sensation.

You will want to get lots of rest and to avoid engaging in any activities that will raise your blood pressure, which could cause additional bleeding. It is important to stay out of the sun and avoid prolonged exposure to heat.
You may experience some hair loss at the incision site. Your hair will grow back over the next few months. Hair loss is rarely permanent.
Our patients are typically extremely pleased with the results of their forehead lifts regardless of the surgical technique. Since brow lifts can be performed on patients as young as 40, some patients have a second procedure after 15 or 20 years; for most others, this is a once in a lifetime surgery.
